What is a Matched System? A heat pump system consists of two parts--the furnace on the inside and the heat pump on the outside. A matched system means that both the furnace and the heat pump were designed and built to work together at the same factory. There are heat pump systems designed for just about every need. Intertherm is designed and rated for manufactured housing and complies with the stricter codes for manufactured homes. Note: All Intertherm systems are design certified for installation on Coleman manufactured home gas and electric furnaces when installed with the matching Intertherm coil. Why Should I Have a Matched System Designed for Manufactured Homes? Manufactured homes are designed for higher static pressures in the ductwork system. Systems not designed for manufactured homes typically lose 30% to 50% of their design airflow. This can shorten the life span of those other units. Note: If the discharge opening on the furnace is not equal to or smaller than the size of the floor plenum, it is a major code violation to install in the home! With a mismatched system it is likely that the manufacturers will not honor warranties regarding the performance of their equipment since warranties are based upon matched systems. Sometimes a mismatched system can also impair the moisture removal capability (in some instances by as much as 50%) thereby lessening your comfort in your home. Basically, a matched system could perform better, give you the service you expect, and can eliminate confusion or delays in getting the proper parts for any warranty or other service related work. |
